As founder and leader of Shepherd Advisors, a growth strategy consulting firm, Loch focuses on methodical research, sound growth strategy development, and building robust foundations for successful and sustainable growth. Loch has a knack for understanding stories, recognizing opportunities, and developing pathways that allow clients to move forward with clarity and confidence. He augments his instincts and enthusiasm with proven methodologies, analysis, due diligence, and process facilitation that fosters clearer thinking and action.
Prior to starting Shepherd Advisors in 2000, He built the Environmental Capital Network (ECN), a pioneering service that facilitated over $50 million in early-stage investments to Clean Tech companies nationwide and later arose as the Cleantech Group LLC. He also spent several years helping design and raise money for commercial and municipal recycling programs.
Having spent many of his younger years abroad in Thailand and the Republic of the Congo, he thrives in helping companies see through a wider lens and view themselves their opportunities, and their paths forward differently, more strategically, more accurately, and more effectively.
Loch has been a member of several boards, including the Erb Institute for Global Sustainable Enterprise at the University of Michigan and the Small Business Association of Michigan. He holds Master degrees in both Natural Resource Management and Applied Economics from the University of Michigan as well as a dual BA/BS from American University in economics and international relations.
