February is Heart Month and the American Heart Association (AHA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating and helping kids, families and communities lead heart-healthy lives! The AHA is driven by a mission to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20% and reduce deaths from cardiovascular disease and stroke by 20% by the year 2020. The Southeast Michigan American Heart Association, located in Southfield at 27777 Franklin Rd, Suite 1150, provides a center full of survivors, volunteers, advocates, healthcare providers and donors who work together to empower heart health across the communities in which we live and work. Through federal, state and local advocacy efforts, the Southeast Michigan AHA offers a variety of resources, educational platforms and community events.

A MIXER THAT MATTERS
On Wednesday, February 22, from 5:30-6:30 PM, the Southeast Michigan American Heart Association is hosting a charity mixer that focuses on discovering new partnerships with nonprofit organizations and charities. For reservations, call 248-350-9898
GO RED FOR WOMEN LUNCHEON

2017 METRO DETROIT HEART WALK
On Saturday, May 20, Wayne State University is hosting a community fundraising walk startingat 8:00 AM. This celebration of the Healthy For Good movement encourages walking as a heart-healthy lifestyle activity and funds will go towards cardiovascular and stroke research and educational programs in Metro Detroit.
