The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) started the Michigan SmartZone Network, an initiative to establish regionally-based high tech business accelerators and incubators to stimulate the growth of technology-based business. Michigan is known for having a wealth of highly skilled scientist and engineers—this SmartZone program will help our state grow and build new high tech industries and become recognized as a center for technology advancement on a national and international level. Each SmartZone is run and supported by a local university, government, research organizations and community institutions that are invested in stimulating entrepreneurial and economic growth in Michigan’s technology sectors. These SmartZones provide a collaborative space where new and emerging tech businesses can learn how to commercialize their ideas, develop patterns and access new opportunities and resources.
