Meet LivePicture: The Latest Display Technology on the Market
- March 29, 2017
THE SPARK OF A REVOLUTION
In early 2015, Steve Couchman, Director of Marketing at RAVE Computer, was working on planning a tradeshow booth for an upcoming event. He was challenged with the same things all professionals are in his position—how to create a trade show booth that would attract different audiences, feature different products and communicate multiple messages in a way that would be both effective and cost efficient.
Then he thought back to a moment when he was working on a retail project a few years before. He had the spark of an idea that if a retail store could easily display messages at a moment’s notice—via computer monitors—they would be able to quickly communicate new or targeted information.
For example, if a store suddenly had an overstock of an item and needed to clear it out in a few days, the managers could declare an instant sale on the store monitors. In fact, that instant sale could be displayed on monitors across an entire chain of stores across the country!
What if that same idea could be applied at trade show booths and allow companies to update, modify and switch out messages in real time based on the changing audiences and events?
He was going to find out.
GETTING AN INNOVATIVE IDEA OFF THE GROUND
Steve Couchman started by gathering a team of experienced sales, marketing and IT experts who would help him develop a technology solution and bring it to market.
He worked with the LTU Collaboratory to utilize knowledge, resources, office space, display areas and mentoring to incubate and accelerate this idea. There, his team began to build prototypes and started evolving the original idea as the technological possibilities took momentum.
Starting with a single monitor prototype, the team explored a two-monitor prototype, then four-monitor units, eight-monitor units and finally a ten-foot wall of monitors! And because of this technology’s ability to change displays instantly, Couchman decided to call it “LivePicture”.
A BETTER WAY TO BUILD A TRADESHOW BOOTH
LivePicture is a 21st-century technological tool that can attract and retain an incremental amount of visitors at trade shows. Using a variety of digital display modules, exhibitors can customize the physical experience of their tradeshow booth and change marketing messages to meet their evolving needs.
Driven by a single high-powered computer with an internet connection, LivePicture offers a selection of professional, commercial- or television-grade monitors that can display movies, banners, video conference and interactive presentations at the command of booth attendants or from a remote location.
Monitors are tethered to simple-to-assemble structures. Each monitor can be programmed to run individual content or connect to other monitors in banks of two or eight. With the ability to pull content from a secure server online, marketing departments can easily customize content specific to an application or event.
Additionally, LivePicture saves companies and marketers big money! Compared to static messages that must be reprinted on cloth or vinyl walls to build a booth for each show, costs associated with LivePicture are amazingly low and assembly only takes 60 minutes—from unpacking to completion.
LEARN MORE ABOUT LIVEPICTURE
The LivePicture team is currently developing virtual reality for this technology and in the early planning stages of augmented reality. LivePicture recently made an appearance at the Southfield State of the City Address and is also actively pursuing relationships with tradeshow booth manufacturers.
